A brief history of tea

Our quality teas start life as fresh leaves, growing in selected crop regions around the world. Hand-picked under the watchful eye of our tea masters, the leaves are then put through the manual processes of wilting, rolling, fermenting, drying and screening. After shipping, the teas are subjected to a series of inspections and extensive taste-testing phases in order to guarantee consistent and unmistakable K-fee quality in every tea capsule.

Grown in ideal conditions, our teas unfold their treasured aromas to perfection. The most widely consumed drink in the world after water, its effects are many and varied, from stimulating, warming and inspiring, to relaxing and soothing. The tea plants themselves, Camellia sinensis, grow to an age of around 30 to 50 years, with some Chinese plants even reaching ages of 100 years and more….

Freshly picked, the leaves are immediately processed in the crop growing regions. Tea type is determined by the processing steps, with black tea the result of the leaves wilting, being rolled, fermenting, drying and then screened. The process of making green tea is similar, but after wilting the leaves are heated in iron pots or treated with steam to prevent fermentation.
